Who We Are
Independent voices for Egypt's museum culture
We are editors, Egyptologists, and frequent travellers who believe museum visits should feel curated — not chaotic.
Independent information portal. We do not sell museum tickets, official tours, or admission passes. Purchase entry only through official museum channels.
Visit Museum Egypt began in 2022 as a field notebook shared among a small circle of researchers based in Cairo and London. We were frustrated by travel guides that treated the Grand Egyptian Museum as a footnote and ignored the practical realities of navigating a city where museum opening hours shift seasonally and new galleries open without fanfare.
Our mission is straightforward: provide editorial-quality guidance that respects both the artefacts and the visitor. We do not sell tickets, operate tours for profit, or accept payment from museums in exchange for placement. Every museum profile on this site has been visited by at least one member of our editorial team within the past eighteen months, and we update schedules quarterly or whenever institutions announce significant changes.
What sets our research apart
Generic travel content treats museums as interchangeable boxes of old things. We approach each institution as a distinct curatorial statement. The Museum of Islamic Art in Bab al-Khalq rewards a different pace than NMEC's chronological sweep through Egyptian civilization.
"We write for the traveller who reads the wall label, then reads it again — because the story behind the object matters as much as the object itself."
Editorial standards
All factual claims about opening hours, admission categories, and visitor rules are cross-referenced against official museum communications. When information conflicts — as it sometimes does between Arabic and English announcements — we note the discrepancy and recommend confirming directly before travel.
If you spot an error, outdated hours, or missing institution, we welcome corrections at support@rccgthelighthouse.com.
